BRYAN EDWARDS - HALL OF FAME

From 1990 to 2002, Bryan served as a Victorian Representative for the Open Men’s team in the prestigious John Reid Shield. Transitioned into coaching, taking on the role of Assistant Coach for the Open Men in 1997 and 1998, before stepping up as Head Coach from 1999 to 2014 and again from 2022 to 2023.
Between 2015 and 2020, Bryan contributed as Team Manager for the same team. On the national stage, served as Assistant Coach for the Australian Men’s Squad from 2008 to 2009.
In addition to on-field roles, he contributed significantly to the administrative and governance side of the Softball, holding positions on the Men’s Sub Committee (1990–1992) and the State Players Sub Committee (1990–1991). From 2000 to 2011, Bryan served as President of the Victoria Softball Association, and was a State Softball/Baseball Facility Delegate from 2005 to 2011. He's also held leadership roles in strategic planning and development, serving as Chair of the Coaching Committee in 2013 and Chair of the State Teams Committee from 2023 to 2024.

Bryan’s journey in softball began at the Keilor Park and District Softball Association, where his passion for the game took hold. His talent and commitment quickly became evident, laying the foundation for a remarkable career that has spanned more than three decades. His long-standing involvement in Victorian representation is a testament to his exceptional impact and enduring legacy in the sport.
Distinguished Playing and Coaching Career
As a player, Bryan represented the Victorian Open Men’s team in the John Reid Shield from 1990 to 2002. During this period, he became known for his skill, leadership, and consistent contributions to the team’s performance. His presence on the field helped shape a competitive and cohesive unit.
In 1997, Bryan transitioned into coaching, serving as Assistant Coach for two years before taking on the role of Head Coach from 1999 to 2014. Under his guidance, the team reached new heights, benefitting from his deep understanding of the game and his ability to develop players both technically and mentally. His leadership extended into a second term as Head Coach from 2022 to 2023, underscoring his enduring value to the program.
Bryan’s service to the Victorian Open Men’s team also included his role as Team Manager from 2015 to 2020. In this capacity, he displayed exceptional organizational and leadership skills, ensuring the team operated at a high standard both on and off the field. His versatility and commitment across multiple roles highlight the depth of his contribution to Victorian softball.
National Contributions and Leadership
Bryan’s expertise and leadership were further recognized at the national level when he served as Assistant Coach for the Australian Men’s Squad from 2008 to 2009. His involvement at this level speaks to the high regard in which he is held within the softball community, both for his strategic insight and his ability to foster high-performance environments.
In addition to his contributions on the field, Bryan has been an influential figure in the administration and governance of the sport. He served on both the Men’s Sub Committee and the State Players Sub Committee between 1990 and 1992. From 2000 to 2011, Bryan led the Victoria Softball Association as President, playing a pivotal role in shaping the direction and growth of softball in the state. His work as the State Softball/Baseball Facility Delegate from 2005 to 2011 was instrumental in supporting infrastructure development and improving resources for athletes and teams.
Bryan also made valuable contributions to coaching and team development as Chair of the Coaching Committee in 2013 and as Chair of the State Teams Committee from 2023 to 2024. These roles reflect his ongoing dedication to raising standards and nurturing future generations of softball talent.
