Softball Victoria to Operate Independently Under Federated Model

Published Mon 30 Mar 2026

As of 1 April 2026, Softball Victoria has formally exited from the “One Softball” model and will recommence operations under a federated system of governance that supports the growth and sustainability of softball across the state.

This follows the decision by the Softball Australia Board to dissolve the “One Softball” model nationally.

This strategic approach enables focus on strengthening local delivery, enhancing participation pathways, and ensuring the long-term success of the sport in Victoria.

Under the federated model, Softball Victoria will continue to provide leadership in strategy, governance, and high-performance, with affiliated associations and clubs delivering competitions, programs, and community engagement at the local level.

Softball Victoria President Sharni Arthur said the return to the federated system of governance will support the growth and sustainability of Victorian softball.

“Operating independently marks an exciting opportunity for Softball Victoria to build on our strengths and further support our associations, clubs, and participants.

“It allows us to tailor our approach to the needs of the Victorian softball community, while maintaining a strong focus on growing the game and delivering positive outcomes for everyone involved.

“We would like to acknowledge and thank Softball Australia for their ongoing support of softball in Victoria and across the country, and we look forward to continuing to work collaboratively to grow and strengthen the sport at all levels.

“We are committed to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and to build a unified, sustainable future for softball in Victoria,” she said.

Softball Victoria also confirmed a new 2026–2030 Strategic Plan is currently in development and will be released in the coming months.

The plan will outline a clear vision for the future of the sport in Victoria, with a strong focus on participation growth, high-performance pathways, governance excellence, and financial sustainability.

Softball Victoria will continue to collaborate nationally and engage with partners across the sporting landscape, while prioritising initiatives that drive participation growth, high-performance success, and organisational sustainability.

The organisation acknowledges the contributions of all partners to the development of the sport to date and looks forward to continuing to support the softball community through this next phase.

Further information regarding the transition and upcoming strategic priorities will be shared with stakeholders in the coming weeks.
