Cranny Cats win season 5 of wheelchair softball

Published Mon 01 Aug 2022

Softball Victoria would like to thank everyone who contributed to another wonderful season of the Wheelchair Softball Competition.

The Grand Final was held at Casey Stadium on last Friday, the 29th of July, where the Cranny Cats defeated the Cobras 44-22 to become Season 5 winners of Wheelchair Softball.

A special thank you to Casey Stadium for partnering with Softball Victoria and Softball Australia again on this great initiative and hosting the competition at this amazing venue.

We would particularly like to thank Matthew De Poilly and staff who have always been very accommodating in assisting with any of our requirements.

We’d also like to thank City of Casey, Disability Sport and Recreation Victoria, AAA Play, Casey Softball Association, and all the teams, players, families, and carers who helped throughout the season.

Thank you also to the flexibility of the players, teams, and captains for working together and sharing players to get games played each week.

We continue to be very pleased and proud of the inclusiveness of this competition, which engages new people from all ages, genders, and abilities in the sport, and has provided a social outlet and physical activity for everyone involved.

A huge thank you also to Richard Barrow for taking on the Game Coordinator role again this season. Richard did an exceptional job in running the competition, while we would also like to acknowledge Tony Black and Tiny Little who stepped in to help some weeks.

Finally, another huge thank you to Henwood Trophy Centre for supplying the winners and runners up trophies again this year, and for donating medals to each player of the winning and runner up teams.

Softball Victoria is already looking forward to the next season and seeing the continued growth of Wheelchair Softball in Victoria.
