The home team took out a convincing victory in the first game thanks to strong pitching from Alex Chapman and solid batting performances from the side collectively.
Waverley got the early jump leading 6-2 after the opening inning, setting up the side nicely for the rest of the game.
Trailing by four runs – the Knights fought back in the fifth inning with Jared Reynolds and Nic Green hitting home to half the deficit – but they couldn’t keep the momentum going.
Waverley would respond in the bottom of the fifth with five runs of their own. Chapman hitting a home run than would put the game beyond reach.
The Knights didn’t concede a run in the remaining innings of the first game, but the margin would be too hard to trim back – eventually going down by six runs. The side’s fielding errors would eventually cost them.
The Knights put up a more competitive showing in the tight second game, but would ultimately go down by a single run.
